Glenn Miller, Director of Music and OrganistGlenn Miller - Director of Music and Organist

Glenn Miller began his tenure as Director of Music and Organist at the Kirk in July of 1998.  A native of New Jersey, he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in church music and organ at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, where his teachers included Dr. John and Dr. Helen Kemp, Dr. James Litton and Dr. Erik Routley (church music), and Dr. Donald McDonald (organ). While at Westminster, he sang and recorded with leading orchestras in New York City under the direction of Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez, James Levine, Seiji Ozawa, Robert Shaw and William Steinberg.  He earned his Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Oklahoma.  Additional studies in choir training include work with Dr. Craig Hella Johnson, Dr. Barry Rose and Dr. John Scott in the United States and in England. 

He is active in the Royal School of Church Music in America, particularly its King's College (Wilkes Barre, PA) summer chorister training course. He also prepares singers for guest conductors that have included James Litton (the American Boychoir), David Briggs (Director of Music emeritus, Gloucester Cathedral), Andrew Lumsden (Winchester Cathedral), Gerre Hancock (St. Thomas Church, New York City), Murray Somerville (Harvard University), Richard Tanner (Blackburn Cathedral) and Paul Trepte (Ely Cathedral). 

Glenn Miller and choristersKnown for his unique basso profundo voice, he has enjoyed a distinguished career and continues to be in great demand as a professional choral singer, performing and recording with: the Choir of St. Paul's Cathedral, London; the Choir of St. Thomas Church, New York City; Conspirare (Austin, TX); the Robert Shaw Festival Singers; the New York Choral Artists. 

Before coming to the Kirk, he served congregations in Wyomissing, PA, Oklahoma City, and Somerville, NJ. He also served as director of the boys choir of Bramdean School, Exeter, England.
