Mid-Highs (Journeys of Faith Classes) Reach Near and Far
Two times each year the Mid-High Sunday school classes conduct service projects. Each class takes on one local and one global outreach project. On November 1, the sixth graders (see photo above) made fleece scarves to be sent to the orphanage connected with Central Baptist Church in Moscow. Each hand-made scarf has a note attached to it reading, “God is Love.” Also, to help build our connection with Central Baptist, our eighth graders made lovely, fuse board crosses for the students there.
The seventh graders (also known as
"Team Seven") made bookplates for
books that they collected for Jefferson
Whittier Elementary. To help encourage
these students to read, the bookplates
included a brief note stating why Kirk youth
like to read. When students at Jefferson Whittier go to the Publishing Center, they
will be able to choose one of these books
to take home.
In addition to the projects, part of the Sunday School hour was spent listening to speakers talk about our sister church in Moscow and the Kirk’s ministry in Pontiac. This information helps the students understand where their projects are going. It also reinforces the importance of reaching out near and far to help others in the name of Jesus Christ.
Wednesday Night Mid-Highs!
It's the highlight of the week for our middle
school students! Mid-Highs meet on
Wednesday nights (during the school year)
in the Youth Room (off Heritage Hall at the east end of the Kirk campus) from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
for fun, fellowship and outreach opportunities. Bring a friend, hang out, enjoy games and scavenger hunts, eat, or challenge our youth leaders to a game of foosball! Off-site outings and mission opportunities keep things moving for the very active members of the Kirk Mid-Highs!
