Confirmation Class (Profession of Faith)
Confirmation (known as "Profession of Faith" here at the Kirk) is offered to young people in the eighth grade and above. It is included in the Journeys of Faith Sunday School experience, with classes beginning in April of each year. The Profession of Faith Process (PFP) explores the meaning of membership at Kirk in the Hills through the study of history and theology. It is during this study that a young person may choose to join Kirk in the Hills through a public profession of faith. There is no obligation to join, this is just the first of many opportunities.
As part of the Journeys of Faith Sunday School experience, the curriculum builds on knowledge from sixth and seventh grade classes,
as well as the beginning of the eighth grade. Class attendance from
April through June is required, and includes:
* Weekly Sunday School Classes
* A Saturday Morning Outreach Event (followed by lunch, fun and fellowship)
* Meeting with the Elders of the Kirk
* Memorization of the Apostles Creed
* Writing a Personal Statement of Faith
New member admission takes place at a Sanctuary service in early June.
