Senior High Mission Trip - masonry work
2010 Senior High Summer Mission Trip to Pigeon, MI

The Senior High Mission Trip will be helping right here in our own state - just a two hour journey away in Pigeon, Michigan. We will stay at a farm that has been converted to hold meetings for Youth for Christ in the "thumb" of Michigan. Our service work will include teaming with Rebuilding Together to work on homes. We will depart early morning on Wednesday, June 23 and return on Saturday, June 26. The cost is only $175 per student; all high school students are welcome to join us!

Note: There will be a pre-trip planning meeting on Sunday, June 13 at noon at the Kirk for all youth and leaders who will participate.

Below is a recap of one youth's experience from the 2009 mission trip to the Pittsburgh Project:

The Pittsburgh Project (TPP) was a great experience for me and for all the other Senior High participants who went. TPP is a mission outreach program in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania designed to assist people (homeowners) or families who don't have the money to make needed repairs on their homes; teenage and parent volunteers go there every year to help. My group helped Mrs. Benjamin, and we fixed her gutters and windows, repaired her front steps by applying new mortar and cement, and installed two new screen doors, as well as some cleaning jobs. One  night  we were able to invite our homeowner to a special dinner; she brought her grandkids, and we had a great time with them. We had opportunities for fun as well, and did a little sightseeing. The best part was being able to see the joy and tears in our homeowner's eyes the last day as she looked at her new, improved home. I am definitely looking forward to next year's mission trip!
