Kirk in the Hills Preschool, a non-profit organization established in 1985 and governed by the Preschool Board of Directors, offers a Christian program for children ages 3-5. The Preschool is located in the west wing of the Kirk. The extensive facility offers well-equipped classrooms and a lovely enclosed courtyard with a climber, playhouses
and a large sand box.

Philosophy
During the formative preschool years, children develop their first feelings about themselves in relation to school, learning and their peers. It is our mission to provide a loving Christian environment that encourages each child to develop a joy of learning, form Christian values, and develop the conscience, feelings and attitudes which form the foundation for a positive self image and healthy relationships.

Curriculum
We provide a positive foundation for learning by offering a play-based developmental program that encourages the cognitive, social/emotional, spiritual and physical development of each child. Children plan and select many of their own activities from a variety of interest centers such as dramatic play, blocks, books, writing, science and math experiences, computers, art, music, games and puzzles. Teachers integrate skills and concepts into the daily curriculum through hands-on learning opportunities and small and large group activities.  Monthly Bible verses are chosen to bring God's Word to the preschooler's world, teaching them about God and His love for every child.  Music enrichment, storytelling, fieldtrips, and special visitors provide additional learning experiences that promote interest, engagement in learning and further conceptual development.

Family Involvement
We take pride in the close relationships our staff members share with the families we serve. Teachers work in partnership with parents to ensure children's learning and developmental needs are met. Parents are invited to activities throughout the year including picnics, holiday celebrations and Father's Night. Parents are welcome visitors in the classrooms and are encouraged to help with field trips and special classroom activities.
