This Saturday, September 11 at 8:00 p.m. we kick off our Concert Series with The Musicians of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The second concert on Sunday, September 19 at 3:00 p.m. features Kirk Director of Music Glenn Miller along with Nicole Greenidge and Peiyi Wang from our Chancel Choir. Women of the Kirk: Blanket Plus Fund Drive

Once a year in February, Women of the Kirk sponsor
participation in the Church World Service Blanket Plus
Fund Drive. For more than 50 years the Church World
Service Blanket Program has made life more “bearable”
for those who have been affected by disaster as well
as those in need of a warm place to lay their head.
A donation of $5 can buy a specially designed blanket
to be used in disaster relief areas around the world.
The blanket is designed to keep victims both warm
and dry.
This fund serves as a “Rainbow of Caring” to provide additional assistance such as much needed tools for rural families, tents to shelter disaster victims, sewing machines for a widow learning a trade to support her family, fishing nets and other equipment for village cooperatives and drills to install a clean water well in a village.

We are pleased to report that the 2010 Blanket Fund Drive raised a grand total
of $5,311.00! Haiti's pleas for help were answered as CWS immediately provided blankets, new baby kits, hygiene kits and funds to help the people after the tragic earthquake. You truly made life more "bearable" for people of disaster areas.
