Building on faith, experience and a willingness to serve, Kirk in the Hills will build Habitat House #7 in the Ferry Neighborhood in Pontiac this summer. The Ferry Neighborhood (north of South Blvd. and east of Woodward) has been growing through the Habitat ministry and has achieved the critical mass that builds a stronger community. Kirk Habitat House #6 was built in the neighborhood in 2007. On July 10 over 100 volunteers from the Kirk and New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church built the walls of the home in the Kirk parking lot to be transported to the future home site. Phase one has been completed, but volunteers are still needed for the week of August 23!

Kirk Habitat House #7 - FramingHabitat has been working over the years to build and nurture community, civic, church and Habitat owner relationships which have resulted in stronger community involvement and support for their pro-jects. In addition, increased federal funding has lowered the costs for building partners like the Kirk and assures that new homeowners will be able to benefit from decent affordable housing that is in line with local market value.

We still need volunteers to complete the project!  Experienced and willing to learn builders and team leaders, food and snack providers, landscape helpers, drivers, painters, and sweepers are asked to contact Bobi Tallinger at
bobitall@comcast.net or (248) 646-2368 to share interest and contact information. All Kirk members are asked to keep our 2010 Habitat project, workers and new homeowners in their prayers.
