75th Anniversary Celebration Weekend
November 18, 2022 5:00pm
Kirk in the Hills was organized and incorporated on November 23, 1947. Our church, patterned after Scotland’s famed Melrose Abbey, is probably one of the last great structures in America to be built in the classic Gothic tradition. It formally opened its doors for worship on November 29, 1958. Our 75th Anniversary Celebration weekend begins with two Scottish-themed dinners on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19 in the Refectory. Both evenings will feature our Scottish Heritage with a bagpipe procession, the Ruffwater String Band, Scottish Highland Dancers and festive music and activities. Our anniversary celebration will conclude on Sunday, November 20 with a special worship service that will include the Kirkin O’ the Tartan ceremony, bagpiper, and the Alma College Pipe Band. We are delighted that The Rev. Dr. Norman M. Pritchard, Pastor Emeritus, will be our guest preacher that morning. Included in the service will be several unique commissioned music pieces for the choir and for the carillon. After the worship service, everyone is invited to a complimentary strolling brunch in the Refectory.
Due to the closure of Long Lake Road, a construction sign has been placed near the church that says "Road Closed". Please be aware that our main entrance is still open.
