A MESSAGE TO OUR COMMUNITY:

Serving our neighbors is central to our faith and mission, and we remain devoted to walking alongside individuals and families in need.

Recently, a video depicting a staged scenario at our Welcome Center has circulated online. While the situation shown in the video was not a genuine request for assistance, it highlights an important opportunity to clarify how we care for our community.

Kirk in the Hills does not operate on-site food or clothing services; however, we are deeply committed to supporting people in need, including those with urgent needs, through long-standing partnerships with organizations such as Micah 6, Oakland HOPE, the Christian Community Response Team, and several additional community-based ministries in Oakland County and beyond. 

In this instance, we regret that a clearer direction was not offered at the moment. We are strengthening our training to ensure anyone who seeks assistance—whether through a planned interaction or an unexpected situation—receives compassionate support.

Kirk in the Hills remains committed to our mission to “Love Like Jesus” and to our vision of helping every heart experience God’s transforming love.

The television documentary “Detroit: City of Faith” has just been awarded the Emmy for Best Cultural Film by the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.  Kirk in the Hills was a prominent participant along with several other churches in this wonderful tribute to our ethnic rich Metro Detroit faith-based community. Many members of our congregation appeared in the film and told our story from its founding to today.  From our rich heritage to involvement in the community, the Kirk shines.
