Dates for 2021 to be announced
Lighthouse of Oakland County and South Oakland Shelter joined forces to provide a stronger response to poverty in our community. Their goal is to be ‘A New Beacon of Hope’ for those in need and provide a larger reach across all of southeastern Michigan. Their work is centered around building communities that end homelessness and helping people move from crisis toward self-sufficiency. For eight consecutive years, Kirk in the Hills has participated with more than 60 congregations in this amazing and wonderful ministry. Lighthouse provides SOS–Emergency Shelter for over 300 families and individuals each year, along with supportive programs and resources such as career building, rapid re-housing, job readiness and skills to prepare for employment, financial literacy, self-care, and nutritional planning. They operate three food pantries, housing assistance, and follow-up care.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Kirk has collected food and personal items for Lighthouse guests. Our Kirk West Community at Fox Run has hosted multiple food drives and continues to seek ways to help during this time. Please contact Julie walker at jwalker@kirkinthehills.org or (248) 973-8001.
