Monday Minute 8.30.21

August 30, 2021

Both our Kirk Ministry With Pontiac and Foster Care committees distributed back packs last week! It took many hands to bring these efforts together, including help from Kimberly Shapiro a Kirk member and mentor of 5 ITA Pontiac High School students who are enrolled in the Chick Evan's Golf Scholarship program who helped move all the back packs! And Pastor Edwin who helped distribute them last Thursday at Walt Whitman Elementary School and Sheri Falvay, co-chair of our Kirk Foster Care committee, who shared them with 10 Oakland County foster care children.

The Kirk delivered gently used clothes, books and toys to several organizations across town last week. A big thank you to Carole Puzzuoli who helped organize the sorting and delivered baby clothes to Care Net and children's clothes and books to Crossroads and Tom Bustance for delivering clothes to two Veteran facilities; Emanuel House of Detroit and the American Legion Auburn Hills post. Other organizations we donated clothes to include; Micah 6, the Baldwin Center, Oakland Hope and Starr Presbyterian Church hosting a rummage sale to support their winter homeless shelter. We are no longer accepting items at this time but donations are currently being welcomed at Starr Presbyterian and Oakland Hope. See Outreach info on the Kirk website.

This Sunday we heard Pastor Nate preach on The Lord's Prayer: Forever. If you missed it, click here!

This Sunday featured Tina Rowan, violinist and Executive Director of Accent Pontiac, in worship. Her beautiful performance of Meditation from Thais, was heavenly. If you missed yesterday’s broadcast or you just want an encore, take a listen here.
Sunday’s penultimate Musical Moment, featured Elizabeth Mitchell, mezzo-soprano and Nicole Joseph, soprano, singing songs from opera and musical theatre, as well as some art song and Irish/Scottish folk tunes!
Pick up a bud vase on Sundays to brighten up someone’s day! Our flower ministry is courtesy of our deacons. Thank you, deacons, for this wonderful ministry!

Melanie Costello, our acolyte captain, led the first acolyte training of the year this week. We are looking forward to new acolytes joining the corps and to have acolytes fully back in worship again!
